Terms of Service
The rules for using Dimly: accounts, credits and billing, your rights in songs and generated videos, acceptable use, refunds and liability.
Last updated: 2026-11-03
Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and dimly.ai, the operator of Dimly ("Dimly", "we", "us") about your use of dimly.ai and its related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use Dimly for a company or band, you confirm that you may accept these Terms for it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Dimly is an AI music video generator. You bring a song, talk with the Dimly director about the look, review a treatment, shot list and credit quote, and approve generations. The Service uses third-party AI models to generate images and video clips, and assembles them with your audio into music videos, short cuts, lyric videos, visualizers and AI effects.
AI output is probabilistic. The same prompt can give different results, a model can misread a reference, and a take can contain artefacts, unexpected motion or text errors. We do not guarantee that any Output will match your intent. You review takes before export and can regenerate them.
We add, change and remove models, formats and features as the Service develops. If we remove something you have paid for in advance, we will offer a reasonable alternative or a pro-rated refund for the unused part.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Dimly, and if you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live) you need a parent or guardian's permission. Give accurate information when you sign up and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at support@dimly.ai if you think your account has been used without permission. One person may not create multiple accounts to collect free allowances.
Credits, plans and payment
- Credits. Generating images and video uses credits. Before a paid generation, the Service shows you the credit cost; credits are deducted when the generation starts. Planning with the director (chat, song analysis, treatments and quotes) does not use credits.
- Free allowance. Accounts that have never paid get a limited number of free image generations. Video generation always needs credits. Free allowances can change and have no cash value.
- Subscriptions. Plans are billed in advance, weekly, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled. Each billing period grants the plan's credits. Monthly and weekly credits expire at the end of the period they were granted for; yearly plan credits are valid for 12 months. You can cancel at any time in your billing settings; you keep access and remaining credits until the end of the paid period. Starting a new plan replaces your current one.
- Credit packs. One-time packs do not renew. Their credits are valid for 365 days from purchase.
- Order of use. Credits are used oldest first. Expired credits cannot be restored.
- Prices and taxes. Prices are shown on the pricing page in US dollars. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout. We may change prices; changes apply to your next renewal, and we will tell you before a price increase takes effect.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By paying you authorise the charge to your payment method for the amount shown, including renewals.
Credits are a licence to use the Service, not money or property. They cannot be sold, transferred between accounts or exchanged for cash, except where the law requires otherwise.
Refunds
- Failed generations. If a generation fails or the model returns no result, the credits for it are returned to your account automatically.
- Defective results. If a completed take is clearly broken (for example a blank or corrupt file), contact support with the project details and we will restore the credits after review.
- Purchases. If you have not used any credits from a purchase, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of the charge by emailing support@dimly.ai. Once credits from a purchase have been used, it is not refundable, because generation costs are paid to model providers at the time of use. Renewal charges can be refunded on the same terms if you contact us within 14 days of the renewal.
- Nothing in these Terms limits refund or withdrawal rights you have under the consumer law where you live. If you are in the EU or UK, you agree that the Service starts immediately after purchase and that you lose the right of withdrawal for the part of the Service you have used.
If you file a chargeback instead of contacting us, we may suspend the account while the dispute is open.
Your content
"Your Content" means the songs, audio, lyrics, photos, images, prompts and other material you upload or enter. You keep all rights you have in Your Content.
You give Dimly a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, transmit, adapt and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you, including sending it to the AI providers that run your generations. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups for the limited time described in our Privacy Policy.
You confirm that:
- you own Your Content or have every licence and permission needed to use it with Dimly, including permission from the owners of any recording, composition or lyrics you import;
- you have the consent of every identifiable person in photos you upload, and of a parent or guardian for any minor;
- Your Content and your use of the Outputs do not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights, and do not break any law.
Outputs
As between you and Dimly, you own the images, clips and videos generated for you ("Outputs"), to the extent the law allows ownership of AI-generated material, and we assign to you any rights we have in them. You may use Outputs for personal and commercial purposes, including releasing and monetising your music videos, subject to these Terms and to the rights of others in Your Content (for example the music in the soundtrack).
Some important limits:
- Copyright protection for AI-generated material is uncertain and varies by country; you may not be able to stop others from using similar material.
- Because AI models produce similar results for similar prompts, other users may receive Outputs that resemble yours. Those are not your Outputs.
- You are responsible for how you use Outputs, including making sure that a published video does not mislead people into thinking it shows real events or a real person who did not take part, and following platform rules on labelling AI content.
- Outputs made without a paid plan or with the smallest credit pack carry a Dimly watermark and a short end card. Do not remove or obscure them.
You allow us to show Outputs in your account and to process them to deliver exports. We will not use your Outputs in our marketing without your permission.
Acceptable use
You may not use Dimly to create, upload or share:
- sexual content involving minors, or any sexualised depiction of a real person without their consent;
- non-consensual intimate imagery, or content that harasses, threatens, bullies or humiliates a real person;
- deceptive deepfakes of real people, including impersonating public figures, fake endorsements, or election or news disinformation;
- content that promotes terrorism, violent extremism, self-harm or serious violence;
- hate speech or content that attacks people based on protected characteristics;
- content that infringes intellectual property, including songs, lyrics, characters or footage you have no right to use;
- malware, spam or content for fraud or scams.
You also may not: get around credit charges, watermarks, rate limits or other technical limits; access the Service with bots or scrapers except through features we provide for that; reverse engineer the Service or its prompts; resell access to the Service without our written agreement; or use the Service or Outputs to build a competing AI model.
AI providers apply their own safety filters, and a generation they refuse may not be completed. We may review content reported to us or flagged by our systems, remove content that breaks these Terms, and report illegal content to the authorities.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Dimly infringes your copyright, email support@dimly.ai with: your contact details; the work you say is infringed; the link to the content; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature. We will remove material that infringes and terminate repeat infringers' accounts where appropriate. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can reply with a counter-notice.
Our rights
The Service, its software, design, the Dimly name and logo, and our prompts, templates and sample media belong to Dimly or our licensors. These Terms do not give you any right to them except to use the Service as described here. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (for example AI model providers, Stripe for payments and Cloudflare for hosting). Their availability is outside our control, and features that depend on them may be slow, limited or unavailable at times. Imports from third-party sites such as Suno are also subject to those sites' terms.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using Dimly at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close your account, or remove content, if you materially or repeatedly break these Terms, if your use creates legal risk or harm for others, or if the law requires it. Where reasonable we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first. If we close your account without cause, we will refund unused prepaid amounts. If we close it because you broke these Terms, unused credits are forfeited.
Sections about your content licence (for content already processed), Outputs, our rights, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and disputes continue after termination.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that Outputs will be accurate, unique or suitable for your purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Dimly will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service. Our total liability for all claims related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$100.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, we are liable under statutory provisions for foreseeable damage caused by our breach of these Terms or our negligence.
Indemnity
If you use the Service for business purposes, you will defend and indemnify Dimly against third-party claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your use of Outputs, or your breach of these Terms or of anyone's rights.
Disputes
Before starting any formal claim, contact us at support@dimly.ai and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. Most issues are solved this way. If you are a consumer, you keep any right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live and the protection of its mandatory consumer laws.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The date at the top shows the current version. For material changes we will tell you by email or in the product at least 14 days before they take effect, unless the change is required by law or addresses new safety or abuse risks. If you keep using Dimly after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree, cancel and stop using the Service.
General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any terms shown at checkout, are the whole agreement between you and Dimly about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a provision, we do not waive it. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
